Scruff Daddy is an online magazine dedicated to new and upcoming Irish and Irish based artists.

Scruff Daddy is dedicated to giving Irish and Irish based artists a platform to get their name and work seen by the public. We profile artists and show examples of their work and where to see them exhibit or perform. We also review gigs, shows and exhibitions and interview the bright new talents that are making a name for themselves on the Irish scene. We also showcase promoters and events organised by new and independently run Irish organisations.

I started Scruff Daddy when I was out of work and on the dole. I had no money and no chance to be creative. I started the site because I wanted to create a place where un-established artists could get a little recognition or a platform to get known and get their work out to the general public. I felt there was a need for this because there was never somewhere for the likes of me or my peers to do this.

In setting up the Scruff Daddy website I was able to put my own talents into practice alongside the managing of the site. I enrolled in a Business Start Up course at night and am slowly learning the business end of the creative spectrum. It was interesting to learn even small details like setting up a company in order to obtain a .ie domain name. As long as managing the site in terms of HTML, CSS, FLASH and all that goes into the web design end, The site allows me to flex my creative muscles when designing badges, flyers, business cards, postcards, banners, t-shirts and even shooting video and editing.

Theres also the details like graphics for Myspace and Twitter pages and all the social networking sites including Facebook updates. Trying to get the barand name out their and relevant on these sites is a challenge in themselves. But its a challenge that I enjoy and I am learning all the time.
